What is a Life Cycle Celebrant?
A certified Life Cycle Celebrant in the United States is a professional; trained and certified by The Celebrant USA Foundation and Institute (www.celebrantusa.com) located in Montclair, New Jersey.  The training includes how to design, create and officiate at ceremonies that celebrate life's milestone events, such as weddings, commitment ceremonies, gay and lesbian civil unions, baby naming, moving, divorce, memorials and other life transitions.

The Celebrant movement came to the United States in the early 2000's from Australia, where it originated decades ago.  This movement has been instrumental in positively impacting the way Americans celebrate significant milestones in their lives.
  • "Two persons who have chosen each other, out of all the species, with the design to be each other's mutual comfort and entertainment, have, in that action, bound themselves to be good humored, affable, discreet, forgiving, patient, and joyful, with respect to each other's frailties and imperfections, to the end of their lives."
-- Joseph Addison, 17th-18th-century
